Maintenance/Facilities Officer

- Casual Opportunity
- Will include rotational weekend work – 3 hr shifts on Saturday and Sundays
- Position is based at Kensington head office, and other Ngala owned properties as required.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a hands-on and proactive Facilities Officer to maintain the safety, functionality and presentation of Ngala-owned and occupied buildings, grounds, and fixtures. These non-trade roles are ideal for individuals without formal trade qualifications, focusing on general handyman support. Facilities Officers carry out routine maintenance, basic repairs, and work closely with all stakeholders to ensure properties are secure and well-presented.

DUTIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Ensure Ngala-owned and occupied properties are maintained to the highest standards, both safety and presentation.
- Strive for continuous improvement in the workplace.
- Strive for a safe and clean environment for staff and clients.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks assigned such as replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains, assembling furniture, and changing air filters.
- Assist with the upkeep of grounds including lawn care, sweeping, and general cleanliness of outdoor areas.
- Conduct regular inspections of facility to identify and report maintenance needs or safety hazards.
- Support waste management as needed, such as bulk waste removal activities.
- Assist tradespeople (eg. electricians, plumbers)
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment as directed.
- Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles, ensuring they are clean/presentable, in good working order and report malfunctions.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will be highly organised and have strong communication skills together with the following:

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in general maintenance or related field
- Basic understanding of building systems and maintenance tools
- Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods,



and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of computer systems
- Effective communication, interpersonal and relationship skills.
- A positive and friendly attitude, and a demonstrated effective team member.
- National Police Clearance issued within the last 6 months
- Current WA Working with Children’s Check
