We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our workshop and maintenance operations in Nauru. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the maintenance and reliability of a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, mobile plant, light vehicles and electric vehicles.

This position requires demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing electric vehicles (EVs). Applicants without practical EV maintenance experience may not be considered.

Working on a 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off FIFO roster from Brisbane, you will lead a team of mechanics and maintenance personnel, oversee workshop operations, implement preventative maintenance strategies and ensure fleet and asset availability to support critical business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet & Equipment Maintenance

- Lead the maintenance, servicing and repair of heavy mobile plant, earthmoving equipment, heavy diesel machinery, light vehicles, fixed assets and electric vehicles.
- Develop and implement preventative and corrective maintenance programs to maximise fleet reliability and availability.
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical faults.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with manufacturer specifications, ESC standards and legislative requirements.
- Manage maintenance budgets, inventory, tooling and procurement of parts and consumables.

Electric Vehicle Maintenance

- Oversee the maintenance, servicing and repair of electric vehicle fleet.
- Diagnose faults across electric vehicle systems and components.




- Ensure all work involving high-voltage systems is completed safely and in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
- Develop maintenance schedules and servicing programs specific to electric vehicles.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation for EV assets.

Workshop Leadership

- Manage day-to-day workshop operations and resource allocation.
- Lead, mentor and develop mechanics and maintenance personnel.
- Build the capability of local employees through coaching, training and knowledge transfer.
- Prepare rosters and ensure appropriate workforce coverage.
- Foster a positive, accountable and safety-focused team culture.

Maintenance Systems & Reporting

Using the MEX Maintenance Management System, you will:
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules.
- Maintain asset registers and service histories.
- Monitor fleet performance and maintenance trends.
- Report on key performance indicators including availability, downtime, MTBF, MTTR and maintenance costs.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency.

Stakeholder Management

- Develop productive working relationships across operational teams.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors and key stakeholders.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and development of maintenance personnel.
- Collaborate across the business to ensure operational requirements are achieved.

About You

You are an experienced maintenance leader with a strong technical background,



excellent leadership capability and a commitment to developing people while maintaining high safety and operational standards.

Essential Requirements

- Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle, Diesel or Automotive Mechanic (or equivalent).
- Demonstrated hands-on experience maintaining, diagnosing and repairing electric vehicles (EVs).
- Experience working safely with high-voltage vehicle systems.
- Extensive experience maintaining heavy diesel equipment, earthmoving machinery and mobile plant.
- Proven experience leading maintenance teams in mining, civil construction, transport, fleet management or heavy industry.
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (MEX experience highly regarded).
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote and culturally diverse environment.
