Manager (Business Advisory) – Melbourne CBD We're looking for a Manager (Business Advisory) to join our Melbourne CBD team. You'll build trusted relationships with clients, lead and develop a high‑performing team, and help create an engaged, collaborative culture where people are supported to grow and deliver exceptional outcomes. We're looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates with clarity, and enjoys working closely with both clients and colleagues.
You'll lead by example, creating an environment where people feel trusted, supported and motivated to perform at their best. You'll be joining a growing firm that values technical excellence, practical advice and a genuinely supportive team culture. What's the role?
You'll manage a diverse client portfolio while leading a team of talented accountants, helping them develop professionally and deliver high quality outcomes for our clients. You'll deliver quality outcomes, help clients stay ahead of change, and create an environment where your team can learn, grow and succeed. You'll work alongside a team of curious, capable people, in a practice that's genuinely growing.
We offer generous benefits including flexibility, wellbeing support, and a career framework built to help you keep growing too. Day to day, you'll:
- Build, manage and grow a diverse client portfolio.
- Lead advisory projects, including financial analysis, cash flow forecasting and business transformation initiatives.
- Deliver consistently exceptional client service and identify opportunities to add value.
- Coach, mentor and develop team members, helping them build confidence, technical capability and trusted client relationships.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative and high‑performing team culture aligned with Nexia Melbourne's values.
- Provide regular coaching and constructive feedback to support individual development and career growth.
- Manage budgets,
workflow and deadlines while supporting your team to succeed.
- Review financial statements, income tax returns and other compliance work prepared by the team.
- Provide technical guidance and perform quality reviews to ensure exceptional client outcomes.
- Identify advisory opportunities that help clients achieve their business goals. Who we’re looking for You have at least 8–10 years' experience in public practice accounting, are CA or CPA qualified, and hold a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline. You're confident using Microsoft Office Suite, Access, Workiro, NowInfinity, Xero and MYOB. You move comfortably between the detail and the bigger picture, understanding both the technical aspects of accounting and the importance of building trusted, long‑term client relationships. How you work (this matters a lot to us) You don't just crunch the numbers, you question them. You take ownership of your portfolio and back your own judgement, but you're generous enough to bring others up with you. You thrive in a team-oriented environment, enjoy getting into the nitty gritty, and approach every moment with a "how can I help" attitude. You treat people with kindness, empathy and respect, because that's how you'd want to be treated too. You lead by example and take genuine satisfaction in seeing others grow. You understand that great leadership is about creating psychological safety, building trust, and empowering people to do their best work. The details This is a full-time opportunity based in our Melbourne CBD office, with an ideal commencement date of August. Hybrid working is available; however, this role is best suited to someone who enjoys spending the majority of their week collaborating with their team in the office. Applicants must have unrestricted Australian working rights.
Benefits - Flexibility - Wellbeing support - Career framework - Generous leave - Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
