Mechanical Designer

Due to the ongoing success of the business, Jarlam Australia is excited to open applications for a full time Mechanical Designer.

The ideal candidate will have completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering or have equivalent experience in this area.

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30pm. (with RDO's)

Tasks and responsibilities:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your role will include but is not limited to:

- Reading, understanding and interpreting customer design proposals, specifications and other data to evaluate feasibility.

- Determining customer restrictions, existing equipment, timelines and budgets. Liaise with management to determine if customer requirements can be met and determine the way forward.





- Providing design solutions in line with current Australian Standards.

- Researching existing design solutions and determining feasible solutions.

- Implementing design solutions based on the most up to date and proven technology.

- Understanding mechanical systems including gears, structures, motor loads etc.

- Understanding manufacturing processes including welding / machining processes, assembly methods etc.

- Calculating the efficiency of materials and making appropriate selections based on output ie. motor drive, sensors, actuators.

- Producing accurate and detailed design drawings utilizing CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor and Autocad.

- Providing accurate product specifications such as a Bill of Materials to workshop for completion of project.

- Engaging structural engineers where required for applicable certifications.

Skills and experience The successful candidate must meet the below criteria:

- Have a tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

- Be competent in and have advanced knowledge of Autocad, Inventor and / or Solidworks with 2 years of experience in both programs

- Must have experience in sheet metal design

- Have strong communication skills

- Have a proven mechanical aptitude

- Have accurate design skills with high attention to detail

- Have excellent organizational and time management skills

- Proven ability to work well in a small team environment as well as working autonomously

- Be punctual and reliable

- Have their own transport to/from work

This position is a permanent position.
