Omega Consulting Engineers (OCE) is a leading reliability, condition monitoring, engineering design, engineering solutions, mechanical maintenance and research & development consultancy, supporting heavy industry across Australia and the Pacific.

We deliver practical engineering and maintenance solutions that improve asset reliability and operational performance across industries including steel, mining, cement, manufacturing, and utilities.

Due to growing demand and upcoming shutdown work, we are seeking two skilled and reliable Mechanical Engineering Fitters to join our team.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role involving mechanical maintenance, shutdown support, and precision maintenance activities across various industrial sites.

You will be involved in both planned shutdown work and ongoing maintenance tasks, supporting our clients in maintaining high-performing and reliable equipment.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installation work
- Participate in shutdown execution, including strip-downs and reassembly of equipment
- Perform oil sampling, drain and refill activities, and basic lubrication tasks
- Assist with equipment inspections and condition monitoring activities
- Support precision maintenance practices (alignment, balancing support where required)
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site procedures
- Work collaboratively with engineers and condition monitoring specialists





About You

You are a practical, safety-focused fitter with experience in industrial environments and shutdown work.

Key requirements

- Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter (or equivalent)
- Minimum Certificate III qualification in Mechanical Trade or equivalent certification required
- Experience working in heavy industry (steel, mining, manufacturing, cement, etc.)
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in heavy industry environments required
- Proven experience in shutdown maintenance and repairs
- Minimum 1-3 years of proven experience in shutdown maintenance and repair activities required
- Experience in oil sampling, lubrication, drain and refill activities
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Ability to work flexible hours, including shutdown schedules

Desirable Skills

- Exposure to condition monitoring or reliability practices
- Experience with precision maintenance (alignment, balancing)
- Confined space and working at heights tickets
- Forklift or elevated work platform (EWP) licence
