The Role
We are seeking a full‑time Mechanical Tradesperson based in QLD with commercial/industrial electrical and instrumentation experience who is looking to diversify their skills. What you’ll do - Work enthusiastically in a team workplace, including supporting all colleagues to achieve manufacturing tasks to the desired quality of work within deadlines.
- Carry out mechanical work as designated by the appropriate supervisor to produce quality work within deadlines. This includes PVC pipe fabrication, general steel fabrication, mechanical assembly work and various acceptance testing.
- Provide technical input concerning the design, installation and maintenance with regards to WestWater projects and products.
- Read & follow mechanical drawings to produce the desired project or task outcome.
- Assist with quality control of WestWater products and projects, including red‑pen mark‑ups for ASCON drawings.
- Preparation and packing of equipment for site‑specific tasks, including installation, pipe laying,
civil assistance/direction, service/maintenance and existing services upgrades.
- Adhere to WestWater and customer‑specific Occupational Safety and Health, quality and environmental policies.
- Assist electrical‑based colleagues where appropriate on project or production tasks both onsite and in‑house.
- Liaise with clients and contractors on site while maintaining professionalism and representing Westwater justly.
- Adhere to road rules and drive responsibly when driving Westwater‑owned or marked vehicles.
- Turn up fit for work, being well‑rested and free from drugs and alcohol.
Selection
Criteria - General mechanical/plumbing ability with pride in workmanship.
- Analytical and fault‑finding skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to liaise with people and fit into a team.
- Ability to read and follow process and instrumentation diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
- Flexibility to work within the mechanical or service fields as required by current workload.
- Keen eye for detail.
- Minor dogging and rigging ability.
- Permanent full Australian work rights.
- National Police Clearance (within 6 months of date).
Experience - Completion of mechanical trade (preferred).
- Experience in the water industry.
- Manufacturing industry experience (as opposed to maintenance‑only roles).
- Pipe fitting experience.
- PVC & HDPE plastic fabrication.
Qualifications & Licences - Certification III in Mechanical Trade.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- White/Blue card.
- Forklift licence (desirable).
Work Attendance Requirements
Our workshop is based in Woodridge, QLD where we work a 40‑hour week minimum, Monday to Friday from 7am to 3:30pm. The role will involve away‑site work throughout QLD and NSW, at times for periods up to 3 weeks. The successful candidate will be required to complete a pre‑employment medical.
