Working Arrangements
OnsiteThe primary office is in Canberra, however working remotely from an alternate location (including work from home) or flexible work arrangements may be considered. Job Description
Technical Skills:
Candidates are expected to possess the following technicalskills, including but not limited to:
- Experience with the VMware SDDC stack fora minimum of 3 years and ability to demonstrate:
- Experience with vSphere
- Experience with VMwarevSAN and software-defined storage solutions
- Solid understanding ofvirtualisation and cloud concepts, processes and standards, includingvirtual data centres, vMotion, and dynamic resource scheduling (DRS)
- Experience withenterprise data storage technologies including NAS (IP-based), SAN (FibreChannel-based), and converged storage solutions (e.g., vSAN)
- Experience with VMwareAria (formerly vRealize) suite or equivalent, including:
- Aria Automation(vRealize Automation)
- Aria Operations(vRealize Operations Manager)
- Aria Operations forLogs (Log Insight)
- Aria Orchestrator
- Site Recovery Manager(SRM) or equivalent DR orchestration tools
- Proven experience in implementing complexbusiness solutions hosted on infrastructure and/or cloud platforms,including the ability to develop and complete:
- Technical and securityrequirements
- Test planning andvalidation considerations
- Operational readinessconsiderations
- System constraints andperformance requirements
- Experience with systems backup,
recovery,high availability, and disaster recovery, including modern approaches suchas replication, failover, and cyber resilience practices
- Experience with identity and accessmanagement, including central authentication technologies such as LDAP,Active Directory, and/or Entra ID (Azure AD), with an understanding ofsecurity best practices
- Knowledge of network protocols and coreinfrastructure services, including DNS, SMTP, NTP, SNMP, and generalnetwork communication principles
- Demonstrated understanding of ITIL servicemanagement practices, particularly incident, problem, and changemanagement within an enterprise setting
- Experience with systems monitoring andmanagement concepts, processes, and tools, including SNMP, syslog, andmodern observability or logging platforms
- Experience in systems capacity,performance monitoring, and optimisation, including proactive tuning andresource management to ensure system efficiency and reliability
- Desirable: exposure to cloud platforms andautomation, including Microsoft Azure and/or AWS, scripting (e.g.,PowerShell, Python), and infrastructure-as-code or automation tooling
- Desirable: Experience supporting highlysecure or classified government environments.
Requirements
Key duties and responsibilities
The Services, delivered in collaboration with and undersupervision by nominated personnel, include, but are not limited to, thefollowing:
- Administer and maintain enterprise ICTsystems and infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, availability,and security across production and non-production environments.
- Monitor, investigate, and resolve complextechnical incidents and system issues, applying advanced troubleshootingskills to minimise disruption and ensure continuity of services.
- Implement and manage systemconfigurations, patches, and upgrades, ensuring alignment withorganisational standards, security controls, and change managementprocesses.
- Develop and maintain system documentation,including technical procedures, configurations, and operational supportguides, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organisational requirements.
- Support the integration and continuousimprovement of ICT systems, working with stakeholders and technical teamsto optimise system functionality, performance, and user outcomes.
- Foster a high-performing, collaborativeteam environment, supporting capability development and organisationaloutcomes.
- Drive knowledge sharing and capabilityuplift across teams to strengthen organisational maturity.
- Ensure compliance with clients requirementsthrough robust record management and oversight of project documentationand information.
Technical skills
Min. 3 years’ experience with VMware SDDC, includingvSphere, vSAN, Aria/vRealize suite, virtualisation, cloud concepts, storage(NAS, SAN, converged), & DR solutions. Proven ability to deliver complexinfrastructure/cloud solutions covering security, testing, performance &operational; readiness. Experience with backup, recovery, HA, IAM (AD, LDAP,Entra ID), networking (DNS, SMTP, NTP, SNMP), ITIL, monitoring, capacityoptimisation. Desirable: Azure/AWS, automation, BAE CDS, secure environments
