About the role

We're looking for a mid to senior engineer to take ownership of a stack spanning a

.NET/Azure backend, a private video streaming platform, and native iOS and macOS apps. The stack is expanding to include AI automation, and Android apps.

This is a broad, high-autonomy role. You'll design the systems, write the code,

provision the infrastructure and keep it running in production. You'll set the technical direction rather than receive it, and you'll own the outcome end to end.

A typical day might involve an ASP.NET Core service, a Swift concurrency issue, an

Azure RBAC policy and a Docker config — along with the judgement to know which of those actually needs your attention first.

What you'll be working on

- A private, members-only video streaming platform — ingest, transcoding, packaging, delivery and playback.

- Backend services and APIs on .NET and Azure.
- Native iOS applications with offline-first data and custom sync.
- Internal macOS tooling.
- Machine learning work over a large media library, including image and face search using vector embeddings.
- The infrastructure underneath all of it.

Essential skills We need genuine depth in both of the following. Candidates robust in only one won't be the right fit for this role.

C# / .NET

- C# and ASP.NET Core on .NET 8 / .NET 10 — MVC with Razor views, and REST APIs.
- Console applications and background services.
- Azure: App Service, Azure Functions, Blob Storage, Service Bus, SignalR and Azure SQL.

- Authentication and authorisation: ASP.NET Core Identity, JWT,



SAS tokens and managed identities.
- Entity Framework Core.
- Testing with xUnit.
- Image processing with ImageSharp.

- Front-end fundamentals: HTML, CSS and JavaScript, including streaming video playback in the browser.

Swift / iOS

- SwiftUI and UIKit.
- Swift concurrency (async/await, actors, structured concurrency).

- Background URL sessions and background processing.
- AVFoundation, including streaming playback.
- Local persistence with GRDB / SQLite.
- Dependency injection (Swinject).

Also required

Media

- Video processing and transcoding, with hands-on FFmpeg experience.
- HLS and DASH packaging.
- EXIF metadata extraction and processing.

Python, machine learning and AI

- Practical ML/AI experience in Python.
- OpenCLIP, OpenCV, DeepFace and PyTorch.
- Vector search using pgvector on PostgreSQL.

Data

- PostgreSQL, MySQL / MariaDB, SQL Server and SQLite.
- Comfortable designing schemas and tuning queries, not just consuming an ORM.

Platforms and tooling

- Docker.
- macOS as a development and deployment platform.
- NAS platforms and self-hosted infrastructure.
- WhatsApp Business API, self-hosted Teable and the Dropbox API are all a bonus.

About you

- You've worked across the full stack and the full lifecycle, and you're comfortable being the person accountable for production.
- You're at home with problems that aren't documented anywhere — obscure framework bugs, undocumented platform behaviour, unexpected interactions between systems.

- A desire to never stop learning new systems.
