Travel Radar is growing; We are looking for a number News Editor Interns to join our team on a part-time, adaptable, basis. As a News Editor Intern in our busy Editorial Team, you can expect excellent training, support and opportunities to get stuck in, coming out of the internship with real-world experience, and a CPD Diploma at either Level 3, 5 or 7. Whether you decide to stick as a contributor/Web Editor with us thereafter, or venture into a career in the industry, a placement with Travel Radar will be just the beginning of your journey!

Responsibilities and A Little More About the Role:

Working on an assigned publication vertical - for example Route Development, Airport News, Sustainability - and coordinate a team of journalists and contributors (freelance and inhouse) to curate news and evergreen stories

Developing engaging, creative, innovative content for regular web content, which enlighten audiences across the globe, and of varying demographics (Consumers, Frequent Fliers, Airline Executives etc.)

Auditing and analysing web content, visitor data and determine efficacy and areas for news desk improvement

Speaking with industry contacts, press offices and airline representatives to interview, source and compile quotes and facts for stories





Leading a shift of our Editorial News desk, supporting journalists and contributors, forwarding/organising inbound story leads, and reviewing submissions of articles as required in a 'Duty Editor' rota capacity

Completing CPD Diploma at either level 3, 5 or 7 in 'Journalism' which will include keeping a portfolio during the internship, with additional eLearning, skill and personal development sessions

Who We're Looking For

Passion for Journalism, Blog Writing, Editing or Creative Writing

Previous writing portfolio or experience as a copy/content editor - it could be of an academic magazine, local newspaper or side project

Currently studying a creative or technical journalism field subject, or other course with an aim to go into Journalism full-time

Willingness to learn

Great communication and teamwork skills

Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CMS (content-management systems) such as WordPress

Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Looking for a part-time internship over the weekend period (Friday evening to Sunday)

Commitment per Week: 12hrs per week (1-2 days per week, fully flexible)
