Brunel has been exclusively engaged by a renewable energy developer with a growing Australian portfolio who are currently seeking a PPA Origination Manager to identify offtake opportunities that match their generation pipeline, structuring PPAs and other physical and virtual arrangements to maximise project value.
The Role
- Market analysis: Analyse Australian energy markets (prices, regulation, trends, competitor activity) to match suitable loads with the generation development pipeline
- Trading support: Support front-office generation operations and energy trading middle/front-office functions (physical spot)
- Market intelligence: Monitor geopolitical, policy, and technology developments and their impact on the Australian energy market, feeding insights into strategic decisions
- Commercial strategy: Collaborate cross-functionally to assess investment opportunities, project feasibility, and revenue/profitability optimisation strategies
- Contracting pipeline: Build a pipeline of PPAs and other contractual arrangements to support vertical integration plans
- Trading strategy: Develop energy trading strategies to maximise value from physical generation assets,
working with Markets & Regulation to financially assess options
- Stakeholder engagement: Meet with counterparties and maintain accurate project records in a CRM or equivalent database
About You
- Qualifications: Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical preferred) or Commerce degree
- Industry experience: 10+ years in the deregulated NEM energy industry, with exposure to C&I;/SME businesses or generator/retail energy companies
- Market knowledge: Wholesale energy market experience (physical/spot and financial derivatives/settlement) highly valued
- Technical familiarity: Base-level understanding of variable renewable generation and storage technologies (PHES & BESS)
- Stakeholder relationships: Proven external relationship management across C&I;/SME businesses, energy trading establishments, and retailers/gentailers
- Core attributes: Solid relationship-building across diverse groups, agile and delivery-focused thinking, ethical and professional conduct
- Practical requirements: IT/MS Office proficiency and a current Australian driver's licence
