Location: Parliament House, Darwin, Northern Territory

Lead the digital communications function by providing strategic direction and oversight of digital communications, social media and multimedia services. The role leads the Digital Unit to deliver high-quality, innovative and timely digital content that supports Ministers, government priorities and public engagement, while ensuring consistency, compliance and continuous improvement across all digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of the digital communications strategy, ensuring alignment with priorities and emerging digital trends.

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all digital communications, social media and multimedia services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely and engaging digital content.

Lead and develop the Digital Unit, fostering a high-performing, collaborative and innovative team culture while managing priorities across multiple Ministers and portfolios.

Oversee the planning, approval and quality assurance of digital content, ensuring consistency of messaging, brand integrity and compliance with government policies and standards.

Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to deliver coordinated and effective digital communication outcomes.

Monitor digital performance, analyse insights and emerging trends and provide strategic advice and reporting to ensure continuous improvement and inform future digital initiatives.

Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new approaches to enhance public engagement and the effectiveness of digital communications.





Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on digital communications, reputation management and opportunities to strengthen digital presence.

Oversee the management of the Digital Unit's multimedia equipment, digital assets and asset register, ensuring appropriate maintenance, security, lifecycle management and operational readiness.

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated experience leading a digital communications, social media or multimedia team in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Extensive experience developing digital communications strategies, including social media, graphic design, photography, videography, video editing and multimedia production.

Highly developed writing, editing, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to produce engaging digital content and provide strategic advice.

Demonstrated experience analysing digital performance and using data and insights to inform strategy and improve outcomes.

Exceptional leadership, organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes.

Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, maintain confidentiality and operate with professionalism and discretion in a Ministerial environment.

Preparedness to travel and work outside normal business hours as required.

Current Northern Territory C Class NT Driver Licence.

Tertiary qualification in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Journalism, PR or related discipline.

Knowledge of government structures, Ministerial Offices and government decision-making processes.

Experience working in a government, ministerial or political workplace.
