This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, experienced Community Engagement Officer at our Wonthaggi centre to join RAV.

About headspace:
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers core areas including mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services. Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is the lead agency for headspace Wonthaggi which is governed by a consortium of local community organisations who provide expertise, support and advice to RAV.
About the role
Reporting to the Centre Manager, the Community Engagement Officer is responsible for promoting headspace services and improving early access to health and wellbeing supports for young people. This involves engaging with young people, families, schools, and community stakeholders, delivering health promotion initiatives and community events, increasing awareness of youth mental health, facilitating youth and family participation, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure accessible, youth-focused,
evidence-based services that meet community needs.
This role is located at Wonthaggi and is a casual position. The hourly rate is $66.69 inclusive of casual loading.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Development, Social Work, Social/Behavioural Science, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience developing, delivering, and evaluating community engagement and health promotion initiatives, with a strong focus on supporting young people, including vulnerable cohorts.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage diverse communities and, ideally, experience using social media to promote services and wellbeing initiatives.
- Understanding of the diverse experiences of young people, particularly those from CALD, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and LGBTIQ+ communities, with a current Victorian Driver's Licence, access to a vehicle, and the ability to maintain required background checks.
