- Expressions of Interest to join Hospitality & Racing, a division within the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport
- Clerk Grade 7/8 with a salary range of $116,981 - $129,492 + super & leave loading
- Temporary role until April 2027 based in Sydney, NSW
About the role The Policy Officer coordinates and undertakes policy development, providing analysis and advice, to support Agency and/or Government policy initiatives and commitments.
Some of the key accountabilities of the role include –
- Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of discussion papers, briefs, reports and submissions, to contribute to the development and delivery of policy and program initiatives.
- Prepare and review policy advice to ensure alignment with policy directions.
- Undertake research and collate information for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to contribute to the achievement of policy outcomes.
- Undertake the evaluation of grants program invoices and supporting documents, including maintaining records to contribute to accurate, timely and compliant payment of program funds.

About You To be successful in this role, you will have –
- Knowledge of the machinery of Government, including Cabinet and legislative processes and ability to understand and interpret a wide variety of legislation in policy development, implementation and review.
- Experience working in a policy, program, project or government environment is highly regarded.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build productive working relationships across government and with external partners.
- Experience coordinating projects or policy initiatives from planning through to delivery.
- Experience undertaking policy research, analysis and developing evidence-based recommendations.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise and high-quality briefs, reports and policy advice.
Essential Requirements
- Appointment and ongoing assignment are subject to satisfactorily meeting pre-employment and ongoing probity screening to meet the integrity standards set out in section 14 of the Gaming and Liquor Administration Act 2007.
