About Liquor & Gaming NSW

About the role The Principal Investigator leads and delivers complex investigations, compliance activities and enforcement operations that help protect the people, businesses and communities of NSW. Using a risk-based approach, the role gathers and assesses evidence, prepares reports and recommendations, and supports informed regulatory decisions.
Working across a diverse range of environments, the role builds strong relationships with businesses, stakeholders and government agencies to address compliance issues, provide practical advice and achieve positive regulatory outcomes. The Principal Investigator is often required to manage sensitive matters, respond to emerging risks and balance education with enforcement activities.
The role also leads and supports a team of investigators, providing guidance, coaching and oversight to ensure high-quality outcomes. In addition,
the Principal Investigator contributes to operational planning and provides advice to senior leaders on compliance, investigation and enforcement priorities.
About you The successful candidate will have strong experience in investigations, compliance, regulatory enforcement or a similar field. They will be confident managing complex matters, gathering and assessing evidence, and making sound recommendations based on legislation, policy and risk.
They will be an effective leader who can support and develop others while maintaining a high standard of work. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with the ability to build productive relationships and explain complex issues in a clear and practical way.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate integrity, sound judgement and a commitment to public service. They will be adaptable, customer-focused and motivated by delivering outcomes that help keep NSW communities secure and well regulated.

Essential requirements
- Appointment and ongoing assignment are subject to satisfactorily meeting pre-employment and ongoing probity screening to meet the integrity standards set out in section 14 of the Gaming and Liquor Administration Act 2007.
- The person occupying the role will be designated as a key official under section 16 of the Gaming and Liquor Administration Act 2007 and may be subject to restrictions, such as restrictions on attending certain premises.
- Certificate IV (Government)
Investigations or similar qualification or the preparedness to undertake employee sponsored program
- Regular travel throughout NSW with occasional interstate travel
- A current Class C Driver Licence
