Senior Solutions Engineer – BESS OEM (Start-Up) | Sydney

We're recruiting on behalf of an exciting new entrant to the Australian battery energy storage (BESS) market — a well-backed OEM start-up building out its local team from the ground up in Sydney.

They're initially focused on delivering Commercial & Industrial (C&I;) BESS projects, with a clear roadmap to expand into utility-scale developments as the business scales locally. This is a genuine ground-floor opportunity to help shape both the technical direction and go-to-market strategy for the business in Australia.

About the Role

As Senior Solutions Engineer, you'll be a key technical voice for the business — working directly with clients, EPCs, and internal teams to design and deliver BESS solutions that meet project requirements from initial concept through to execution.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead technical solution design for C&I; BESS projects, including system sizing, configuration, and integration
- Support the sales and business development team with technical input during the proposal and tendering process
- Liaise with clients, EPCs, and distributors to translate requirements into deliverable technical solutions
- Work closely with the OEM's global engineering team to localise products for the Australian market and grid requirements




- Provide technical guidance on inverter/PCS compatibility, BMS, EMS, and system integration
- Contribute to the technical foundations that will support the business's transition into utility-scale projects
- Help build out technical processes and documentation as an early member of a growing local team

About You

- Solid background in BESS, solar, or broader renewable energy systems — OEM, EPC, or distributor experience highly regarded
- Solutions engineering, technical sales, or project engineering experience within C&I; energy storage
- Comfortable working autonomously in a start-up environment, wearing multiple hats as the business scales
- Strong communication skills — able to translate technical detail for both clients and internal stakeholders
- Genuine interest in growing with a business as it moves from C&I; into utility-scale delivery
- Based in or willing to be based in Sydney
