About the Position
We are currently seeking an experienced Engineer to join the team.
This is a great opportunity for an ASAP start within a busy team. Being a specific role, it is essential that you have prior experience within a comparable role.
The role will be based on day shift. Pax is a 24-hour operation. Some shift work may be required to enable execution of specific tasks. This will always be with consultation.
Responsibilities
- Support daily Laundry production activities and troubleshoot process-related issues.
- Regularly analyse production data to assist in developing engineering solutions to reduce line downtimes and provide monthly production performance reports to Management.
- Manage engineering change control of the Laundry plant.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive engineering improvements across the Laundry batching and filling systems.
- Manage laundry related projects from initiation to commissioning including the development of associated documentation such as installation qualification and operation qualification, troubleshooting guides, work instructions, machine safety procedures and maintenance standards.
- Initiate capital expenditure submissions and raise purchase orders as required for spare parts inventory, repairs and improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with the Laundry Manager and Laundry Leading Hand to manage the spare parts inventory and the preventative maintenance program relevant to the laundry operations.
- Ensuring appropriate control documents are being used such as hot work and confined space permits for maintenance related activities.
- Liaise with original equipment manufacturers for technical enquiries, repairs and spare parts.
- Manage contractors as required within the Laundry plant.
- Provide engineering support to the Research & Development department in the undertaking of new product batching and validation.
- Investigate quality incidents and contribute to audits, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Deliver training to laundry personnel on process standards and equipment usage.
- Develop and maintain accurate documentation including process layouts and P&IDs; using CAD tools.
- Understand the quality expectation of finished product and ensure the standard is understood and maintained.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial).
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a production engineer in a FMCG environment.
- Robust critical thinking skills to address and resolve process performance challenges.
- Solid understanding of process control principles, production performance principles and applications.
- A positive, can-do attitude with the ability to perform under pressure.
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of quality standards for finished product, process water and batch making processes.
- Effective communication skills and ability to build rapport with floor personnel.
- Proficient in computer literacy, including documentation and data analysis tools.
- Competent in document management and maintaining engineering records.
- Skilled in CAD software for creating and updating process layouts and P&IDs.;
