Castlereagh Coal – Production Superintendent

Castlereagh Coal continues to grow our business with successful mining operations at Invincible and Cullen Valley mines. Castlereagh Coal Pty Ltd is proud to operate both coal mines in the Lithgow region. We are searching for an experienced production superintendent ideally with, or actively obtaining, their Mining Engineering Managers certificate of competence.
About the role:
As part of our strategic growth plan, we have an exciting opportunity for an experience and qualified Production Superintendent to join our senior leadership team based in the Lithgow region. Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a critical role in providing support to our Mining Operations and to the wider business and sites. The right candidate would also perform a 2IC role with a focus on personal development to take on more responsibilities over time.

Essential Attributes:
- Extensive experience and knowledge of mining practices and legislative obligations
- Health and safety management
- Environmental obligations
- NSW Mine Supervisor Qualifications – S1, S2, S3
- Minimum three years’ experience in an open-cut mining environment in a supervisory position
- Thin seam mining experience
- Strong commitment to safe production
- Capacity to create a weekly mine plan benchmarking against mining targets and budget.
- Applicable safety and training qualifications or be willing to commit time to getting the applicable qualifications as required by the role.
- Ability to motivate the team to achieve goals
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Basic – intermediate computer literacy
- Ability to maintain manning levels with the correct skills for a seven-day roster
- Desire for continuous improvement
- Self-development and educational aspirations to add a level of contingency to the Senior Leadership Team
- Actively in the process to obtain the MEM certification
Desirable Attributes (but not mandatory):
- NSW Mining Engineering Manager (MEM) Certificate of Competence or
- Mining engineering or mine planning experience
Duties
- Maintain compliance to and ensure a sound understanding of the legislative and site safety and health system requirements
- Effectively plan, monitor and coordinate personnel, equipment and resources to achieve our set targets and schedules.
- Lead and mentor supervisors and production crew reinforce a positive culture.
- Facilitate the implementation of a process to drive positive safety behaviours across all levels of the organisation.
- Participate in development and review of risk assessments, PHMP’s, SOP’s and other Standards and Procedures relating to mining activities in or around the mine excavation, as directed.
- Follow and ensure compliance with all risk management processes and documentation requirements, reducing unacceptable levels of risk.
- Participate in incident investigations and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and company policies and procedures.
