About the Role Deguara Bros & Sons are seeking suitable applicants with experience to fill the full time position of a Deckhand and/or Fishing Hand. The successful applicant will carry out work on our fleet of live Coral Trout commercial fishing vessels operating out of the Mackay Port in Queensland. Job Tasks & Responsibilities:

- Prepare, maintain, and operate fishing lines, hooks, reels, bait, and associated equipment
- Locate suitable fishing grounds using experience, weather data, charts, and fishing technology
- Sort, grade, clean, store, and preserve catches to maintain product quality
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on fishing gear, vessel equipment, and machinery




- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maritime regulations
- Ensure compliance with fisheries management, licensing, and environmental requirements
- Deploy, monitor, and retrieve fishing lines and gear efficiently and safely
- Work effectively as part of a crew during extended periods at sea and under varying weather conditions

Experience & Qualifications:
- At least 1 year experience in commercial fishing operations
- Strong problem solving/ troubleshooting skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience with quality control
- Basic vessel operation and navigation knowledge is preferred
- Relevant boating licences required
