About the role FORGE is looking for a Project Accountant who can take ownership of the project accounting process end-to-end. Not just prepare spreadsheets, but understand the source data, work with project and delivery teams, resolve exceptions and produce reliable month-end outputs. This is a hands-on role, reporting directly to the CFO, and with genuine ownership of important project accounting processes.
You will have the opportunity to improve how project financial information is managed, reduce manual workarounds and help build more reliable, repeatable finance routines.
It is a full time role based in our Norwest office. Our finance team is small, commercially minded and embedded in the business - you'll work closely with project and delivery teams, not just process numbers in isolation. About FORGE
FORGE connects people, place and nature through Australia's most sought-after outdoor structures. We're an award-winning, design-driven engineering team - partnering with local governments, landscape architects and developers to enrich landscapes and unite communities nationwide. We don't just build; we craft experiences, push boundaries and deliver quality without compromise.
Our finance team supports the business by strengthening project reporting, cost control, forecasting and commercial decision-making. What you'll be doing
Own project accounting across active design and construction projects - WIP, revenue recognition, cost tracking and margin reporting.
Deliver reliable project financials for month-end and management decisions.
Manage job setup and close in ERP keeping project data accurate and current.
Run monthly accounting routines - reconciliations, supporting files and documented judgements.
Partner with project managers, delivery, sales and finance to track movements, investigate exceptions and resolve issues.
Maintain project-level cashflow inputs and strengthen the link between operations and finance reporting.
Build up reference documents, making key finance routines repeatable, reviewable and never locked in one person's head.
Optimise reporting and manual workarounds, improving how the team uses ERP data and Excel models. What we're looking for
Project accounting experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure, design-build or another project-based environment.
Robust understanding of WIP, revenue recognition, project cost tracking, margin analysis and month-end close processes.
Experience using ERP systems for project accounting or job costing; Jonas Premier experience would be highly regarded.
Strong Excel capability, including reconciliations, structured models, data extracts and financial reporting files.
A process owner mindset - someone who follows issues through, documents how work is done and improves repeatability.
Confidence engaging with operational stakeholders, not just finance, to understand project status and resolve exceptions.
Practical attention to detail and the ability to distinguish between essential controls and legacy manual workarounds. If this sounds like the role you've been waiting for, we'd love to hear from you. Apply with your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your experience.
