This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme. The incentive is paid fortnightly and may be pro‑rated to your contracted or ordinary working hours.

This scheme recognises the key role health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements to attract and retain staff in these areas.

About the Far West LHD

The Far West Local Health District is one of 15 LHDs under NSW Health, providing high‑quality public health services to communities in far‑west NSW.



FWLHD’s mandate is to provide the highest quality care and services using the latest clinical evidence and technological enablers. Our vision is to create excellence in rural and remote healthcare.

We employ well over 800 clinicians and support staff across nine health facilities in Broken Hill, Balranald, Dareton, Ivanhoe, Menindee, Tibooburra, Wentworth, White Cliffs and Wilcannia. Our inclusive and diverse workforce works together to improve health outcomes for our communities.

On the NSW side of the Murray River, Buronga is a beautiful rural town just 10 km from Mildura, Victoria. Many of our staff live in the thriving regional hub of Mildura and travel a short 10‑minute drive to work. Mildura, with a population of over 50,000, offers the facilities of a regional city while remaining uniquely positioned in the scenic Sunraysia region, known for its sunshine and horticulture, including grapes and oranges.

Requirements

- Current Nursing registration with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a minimum of two years clinical experience in mental health and/or drug and alcohol.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills both written and verbal, with intermediate computer skills,



including use of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Evidence of application of evidence‑based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualized, person‑centred care.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with a commitment to working with service partners, including carers and NGOs.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and families to enhance health outcomes.
- Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancing skills, with willingness to share expertise with colleagues.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the recovery model and patient‑centred care.
- Current licence to drive in NSW.
