About the role
Kings Engineering offers an Apprenticeship Program for the next intake, commencing in January 2026. As an Apprentice Machinist, you will learn how to:
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment and champion safety.
- Operate manual lathes, drills, mills, borers, grinders and CNC machines.
- Read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
- Perform accurate measurements to ensure parts meet required specifications and tolerances.
- Test and repair hydraulic cylinders.
- Operate high‑risk workshop machines such as overhead cranes and forklifts safely.
- Use your own reliable transport to and from site.
- Possess strong mathematical aptitude with a minimum of Year 10 completion prior to commencement.
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for your chosen trade.
- Take pride in the quality of your work.
- Work independently as well as contribute to a team.
- Be reliable for full‑time working hours Monday to Friday and some weekends.
- Commit to completing and passing all practical and theory‑based study requirements of the Apprenticeship.
- Be comfortable working at heights and in a physically demanding workplace.
Responsibilities
During the structured training program you will be guided by experienced tradespersons, supervisors and managers across the Bloomfield Group sites and provided with site placements.
Qualifications
- Minimum Year 10 education completion.
- Strong mathematical aptitude.
- Passion for the trade and reliable attendance.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Willingness to work full‑time hours, including occasional weekends.
- Comfort with working at heights and in physically demanding conditions.
