About the role

As a Prison & Social Chaplain, this is your opportunity to provide Christian pastoral care, spiritual guidance and religious services within a correctional centre, working as part of a multi-faith chaplaincy team to support. Reporting to the Team Leader – Prison and Social Chaplains, this permanent part-time role offers 22.8 hours per week (three days per week) and operates across Inala and Wacol. The position supports prison chaplaincy services for approximately two days per week across correctional centres and one day per week at Streetlevel Community Centre, delivering pastoral care, support, and community engagement services. Due to the sensitive nature of the role and its clientele, this position is only open to female applicants. This provision is permitted in accordance with section 25(1) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (QLD).

How you will make an impact

- Provide spiritual and pastoral care that supports individuals in their faith and wellbeing journey.
- Deliver trauma-informed support to people and staff affected by critical incidents and challenging life circumstances.
- Facilitate worship services, ceremonies, and other faith-based activities within the correctional environment.
- Build strong relationships with faith communities, correctional staff, and external stakeholders to support holistic care.
- Promote The Salvation Army's mission, values, and spiritual care practices across the service.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all organisational, WHS, and correctional requirements.

What you will bring

- Relevant qualifications in chaplaincy, pastoral care,



or theological studies (including Clinical Pastoral Education), or a willingness to undertake required training such as a Diploma of Chaplaincy and Positive Lifestyle Program Facilitator accreditation.
- A valid WWCC/WVPC is mandatory.
- Valid and current Drivers Licence.
- Active Christian faith, with the ability to maintain Salvation Army Chaplain accreditation and participate in chaplaincy team activities.
- Must successfully complete a Corrective Services QLD criminal history check and meet all onboarding and approval requirements.
