Purchasing Manager | Precision Manufacturing | Regional Victoria A global leader in precision engineered components for critical infrastructure, this business manufactures highly specialised, custom engineered products for major industrial and infrastructure clients across Australia. The business has been scaling operations and rebuilding its supply chain function to match a growing production footprint. This is one of several business units operating under a larger international group, with this role dedicated specifically to one division.

About the Role This is a newly created leadership position, reporting to a recently appointed Senior Procurement and Supply Chain Manager who is building out a more strategic, structured supply chain function from the ground up. You'll lead a small team and own the operational engine of procurement: purchase orders, purchase requisitions, and the progression of materials into the plant. This isn't high volume, repeat buying.

The large majority of what's purchased is bespoke, so the ability to read technical drawings and genuinely understand specifications matters more here than in a typical high volume manufacturing environment. The business is currently mid transition from largely manual processes into a proper ERP system, so experience working within and helping embed ERP systems will be highly valued. There's real appetite here for someone who can bring structure, drive continuous improvement, and help close process gaps, not just keep the existing system ticking over.





Key Responsibilities - Manage the full purchase order and purchase requisition cycle - Own on time delivery performance and materials flow into the plant - Lead and develop a small procurement team - Read and interpret technical drawings to support bespoke procurement decisions - Support the rollout and embedding of ERP processes and reporting - Drive continuous improvement across procurement processes - Partner closely with Operations, Engineering and the Strategic Sourcing function About You - Solid background in procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing or industrial environment, ideally low volume, high value, bespoke purchasing rather than high volume repeat buying - Proven people leadership experience, this business is looking for someone who can genuinely lead and develop a team, not just manage process - Comfortable working autonomously, this leader wants someone proactive who doesn't need to be micromanaged - Experience working with ERP systems, and appetite to help drive process improvement through a system transition - Ability to read and interpret technical drawings - Experience navigating a business through change or transformation is a strong plus Culture and Benefits - Salary $135,000 plus superannuation - $5,000 relocation reimbursement available - Join a business with genuine long tenure and real pride in the work - A leadership team that offers autonomy, support, and room to make an impact - Access to development, training, and higher education support
