About the role

We are seeking a Relief Kerbside Collection Truck Driver to join Wimmera Mallee Waste Management in Horsham OR Stawell, Victoria. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in our waste collection operations. As a relief driver, you will provide essential support to our kerbside collection services, ensuring reliable waste collection across our service areas.

You will be responsible for operating collection vehicles, managing waste materials safely, and maintaining the high standards of service our customers depend on. This role offers great variety, as you will cover shifts across different routes and teams as needed. As it is a relief role there will be some requirement at times to live away from home, performing duties throughout our service area in Western Victoria.

There will also be times where minimal relief driving work is required, and due to this an applicant with strong vehicle repair and maintenance skills (mechanical, auto electrical, metal fab etc), or potentially admin skills, would be looked upon extremely favourably. Training will be given to the successful applicant as part of our induction process.

What you'll be doing

Operating kerbside waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently according to company procedures and traffic regulations.

Maintaining accurate collection records and reporting any service issues or customer concerns

Performing daily vehicle safety checks and reporting maintenance requirements

Providing excellent customer service and handling customer inquiries professionally

Adhering to all health and safety regulations and waste management best practices

Working flexibly across different collection routes and shifts as required

Contributing to a safe and positive team environment

Assisting in basic vehicle maintenance practices, including but not limited to greasing, fault repairs, washing, and or assisting our admin and management teams, depending on the skills of the successful applicant.

What we're looking for A current, valid Heavy Rigid (HR)



license or greater, with a clean driving record. Police check required

Physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks regularly throughout the day. Pre-employment medical check required.

Strong safety awareness and commitment to following health and safety protocols

Excellent time management and reliability, with punctuality essential

Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team

Flexibility to work various shifts and cover different routes as required

Ability to work independently whilst also collaborating with colleagues

Experience in vehicle repair fields, or admin roles
