Heres What Youll Be Up To…

As the Community Capacity Project Officer, youll deliver projects that tackle complex social issues and help deliver positive outcomes for residents across Penrith.

This is a agile and varied role within the Community Capacity team. Youll contribute to research, project delivery, stakeholder engagement and advocacy across a range of portfolios including youth, multicultural, homelessness and disability.

In This Role, You Will

- Support the research, development, implementation and evaluation of community capacity projects and initiatives
- Engage with local services, organisations, community groups and Council teams to better understand community priorities and wellbeing challenges
- Assist in preparing reports, submissions, advocacy documents and recommendations that inform decision making
- Coordinate community events, sector activities and capacity-building programs
- Build and maintain productive relationships with community stakeholders and strategic partners
- Support grant applications, reporting and acquittals, contributing to successful project outcomes
- Contribute to other initiatives that strengthen collaboration across the community services sector

What are we looking for?

Youll Bring

- A qualification in social science, community development, social policy, cultural studies or a related field
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to research, analyse information and prepare clear reports and recommendations
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A collaborative and relationship-focused approach, with a genuine interest in engaging with diverse communities and stakeholders
- A growth mindset, curiosity and a desire to contribute to meaningful social impact initiatives
- Experience in community engagement, research, project delivery or government environments will be highly regarded

The must-know bits

You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check,



Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.

Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.

Requirements

Essential

- Tertiary qualification (or close to completion) in social science, cultural studies, social policy, community development or a relevant area
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisation and time management skills

Desirable

- Experience in conducting research and interpreting, analysing and presenting data and information
- Current Class C driver licence
- Qualifications and/or experience in community engagement (e.g. IAP2 Certificate in Public Participation or similar)
- Previous experience working in a government contex
