Systems Administrator

We're partnering with a well-established global organisation looking for an experienced Systems Administrator on an initial 6 month contract to take ownership of their server infrastructure (on-prem and Azure) and bring the kind of hands-on expertise that lifts the whole team, not just keeping the lights on.

Responsibilities include:

- Administer and support Windows Server environments across on-premises and Azure, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, file and certificate services, patching, hardening, and lifecycle management
- Provision, configure, and troubleshoot Azure infrastructure including Virtual Machines, storage, networking (VNets, NSGs, VPN, Load Balancers, Application Gateways), and Microsoft Entra ID / RBAC
- Maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics for operational visibility across the environment
- Administer Linux server environments (RHEL, Ubuntu, or equivalent), managing services, updates, storage, users, networking, and performance
- Configure, monitor, and maintain Veeam Backup & Replication, including job monitoring,



restore validation, recovery testing, and DR documentation
- Troubleshoot server, authentication, storage, and availability issues, applying production-focused change control and clear handover documentation

What we're looking for:

- Someone comfortable working independently as a contractor against defined tasks, milestones, and priorities
- Quick to get across a recent environment, support model, and business risks
- Clear communicator who will provide progress, blockers, findings, and remediation recommendations
- Professional and collaborative across internal IT teams, stakeholders, and vendors/MSPs

Experience needed:

- Proven experience in hybrid on-premises and Azure infrastructure environments, ideally within business-critical settings
- Hands-on experience with backup remediation, restore validation, DR testing, or infrastructure uplift/modernisation projects
- Track record of producing runbooks, operational procedures, and handover documentation
- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency required
