About the opportunity

Werribee Mercy Hospital is entering a landmark new phase, with the opening of a major Emergency Department expansion. This expansion will significantly increase our capacity and enable us to meet the rapidly growing healthcare needs of the Wyndham community, providing timely, high-quality emergency care to an additional 25,000 patients each year. As we are preparing to launch this expanded service, we are seeking an Advanced Practice Emergency Department Physiotherapist to join our committed, established team. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality emergency care within a growing and evolving service. This is a rare opportunity to join a service at a defining moment, contributing to the establishment of a modern, high-capability Emergency Department within one of Australia’s fastest-growing corridors. The current Emergency Department will offer you the opportunity to:

- Work in a state-of-the-art, purpose-built emergency department featuring 4 dedicated resuscitation bays, a 16-bed Short Stay Unit (SSU) and custom-designed paediatric and behavioural assessment zones designed to improve clinical outcomes and staff safety.

Summary of the role

- Grade 3, advance practice-credentialed, Physiotherapist,



permanent part time (0.8EFT), based at Werribee Mercy Hospital
- Seven-day service roster including weekends, public holidays and evening or day shifts as required
- Provides evidence-based clinical care, in both a primary and secondary contact capacity, across the Emergency Department and Short Stay Unit
- Friendly and supportive physiotherapy team
- Provides clinical leadership and supervision to junior physiotherapists/students
- Actively participates in quality improvement to improve the service

What you’ll bring

- Recognised Degree in Physiotherapy, current, full physiotherapy AHPRA registration, current recognised credentialing as an advanced practice ED physiotherapist.
- Strong, broad clinical skills and experience relevant for an ED/SSU setting including in primary and secondary contact capacities and across acute physiotherapy.
- Willingness and flexibility to work in both primary and secondary contact capacity and with a multi-disciplinary team approach
- Availability and willingness to work a rotating roster that includes weekends and public holidays and both day or evening shifts as required.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in staff supervision and improvement activities

- A current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
- Full and unlimited AHPRA Physiotherapy registration.
- Qualifications and experience relevant for credentialing as an Advance Practice ED Physiotherapist.
- Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
