Good 2 Eat Catering is looking for an experienced Sous Chef who enjoys variety, working with a great team and doing something different from the usual restaurant routine.

This is not a role where you stand in the same kitchen every day.

One week you may be preparing food in our commercial kitchen, and the next you could be cooking at a wedding in a paddock, setting up in someone’s garage, working from one of our catering vans or helping deliver a large corporate event anywhere from the Sunshine Coast Hinterland to Brisbane or Gympie.

We specialise in off-site catering for weddings, private functions, corporate events and large-scale celebrations. Our mobile kitchens include catering vans and trailers, with ovens built into each vehicle, plus marquees and equipment that allow us to create a professional kitchen almost anywhere.

What makes this role different

It is varied, hands-on and genuinely enjoyable. You will often be working around happy people celebrating weddings, birthdays and special occasions.

At times, you will be visible to guests and event organisers, so you need to be comfortable saying hello, having a quick chat and representing the Good 2 Eat brand professionally.

The role also includes the physical side of events, including lifting food boxes, moving equipment, setting up trestle tables and helping the team get the mobile kitchen ready for service.

What you will be doing

- Supporting the Head Chef with kitchen preparation and event delivery

- Preparing and cooking food in our commercial kitchen

- Working at off-site events across the Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas

- Helping set up and pack down mobile kitchens





- Leading and supporting chefs and kitchen staff during service

- Maintaining food quality, presentation and food safety standards

- Communicating with event organisers and other team members

- Helping deliver ridiculously good food and unforgettable events

The person we are looking for

You will be an experienced chef who is organised, reliable and calm under pressure. You will enjoy working as part of a team and understand that catering requires flexibility, problem-solving and a willingness to help wherever needed.

Working hours and availability

You will need to be comfortable with early starts, weekend work, travel and working in different environments.

Prep days are usually around 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, although hours can change depending on what is booked each week. Sundays are generally quieter and are often rostered off, but we do occasionally have Sunday events, so you will still need to be available when required.

Event days are always different. Start and finish times depend on the location, event schedule and style of catering, so flexibility is essential.

A driver’s licence is essential, and you must be physically capable of lifting boxes and event equipment.
