The position requires a highly experienced GIS professional withextensive expertise in enterprise geospatial capabilities, typically supportedby a relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree or higher) and morethan 12 years of industry experience. The contractor must demonstrate strongcapability in the integration, sustainment, and operation of enterprise GIS,along with proven experience in delivering insights and models that informorganisational decision-making. A deep understanding of Defence or Intelligencedomains, GIS deployment patterns, and stakeholder engagement at senior levelsis essential, as well as experience providing strategic advice and oversight ongeospatial capability development.
Requirements
In addition, the role requires robust leadership, communication, andgovernance skills consistent with a Level 4 practitioner, including the abilityto influence organisational directions, manage complex work across technicaland business domains, and guide capability evolution. Candidates should beadept at translating business requirements into Foundation Geospatial and GISoutcomes, maintaining relationships with senior stakeholders, and ensuringcompliance with standards and policies.
Relevant industry certifications andthe ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance are alsorequired, with desirable attributes including recognition within the geospatialprofession and experience contributing to broader industry practices.
- Demonstrated extensive experience(typically 12+ years) in enterprise GIS and geospatial data, includingintegration, sustainment, and operation of geospatial capabilities.
- Relevant tertiary qualification ingeospatial science, GIS, or related discipline (Bachelor’s degree or higher).
- Proven ability to provide strategicleadership, governance, and oversight of complex GIS environments and businessfunctions.
- Experience delivering analyticalinsights, models, and advice to support organisational and capabilitydecision-making.
- Deep understanding of enterprise GISarchitectures, deployment patterns, and geospatial data management practices.
- Demonstrated ability to translatebusiness requirements into effective geospatial capability outcomes andimprovements.
- Excellent communication skills, withthe ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of Defence, intelligence,or government operating environments (highly desirable).
