We are working with a privately owned investment group to appoint a Group Financial Controller. This is a hands on leadership role, overseeing a small team, and taking full responsibility for the finance function across the group.

You will lead all compliance and advisory matters across a diverse portfolio of private assets and investments, reporting directly to the CEO.

Key responsibilities

- Leading end to end accounting operations and finance administration, including management accounts and compliance reporting
- Managing group liquidity, including cash flow management, short and long term forecasting, and reporting on capital call commitments and funding requirements
- Preparing monthly and quarterly reporting packs covering investment portfolio performance, group spending and private asset funding and performance
- Leading the group's tax compliance, including year end tax work papers, entity and tax structuring recommendations, year end tax planning, trust distribution strategy and lodging BAS and FBT returns
- Monitoring finance facilities, including covenant compliance, reporting and interest notices
- Reviewing payroll and associated lodgments (IAS, payroll tax, payday super, STP and Income Statements)




- Managing group compliance obligations
- Maintaining strong internal controls, policies and procedures suited to a complex private group
- Driving continuous improvement across systems, processes and reporting

What we are looking for

- CA or CPA qualified
- Approximately 10+ years' experience in a finance and management accounting role, with strong technical accounting and Australian tax skills
- Experience with Xero and strong Excel skills
- Experience in a private investment group or private commercial environment's highly regarded
- A self-sufficient operator who can work autonomously
- Strong commercial acumen and emotional intelligence
- Proactive, action orientated and able to self-direct
- Solid organisational and planning skills, with people management experience
- Excellent attention to detail while maintaining a bigger picture view
- A collaborative team player able to build and influence relationships at all levels
- Adaptable and flexible to changing needs
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Trustworthy, with a strong sense of confidentiality and discretion
