About the role:
The Risk Officer at Lutheran Disability Services plays a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that may hinder the organisation's ability to achieve its objectives. This position involves a strategic approach to risk management, ensuring that all operational processes align with regulatory requirements and best practices.
Key responsibilities include
- Conducting comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities within the organisation.
- Developing and implementing risk management policies and procedures tailored to the specific needs of Lutheran Disability Services.
- Develop, monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies, providing recommendations for improvements as necessary.
- Collaborating with various departments to promote a culture of risk awareness and compliance throughout the organisation.
- Staying updated on relevant legislation and industry standards, ensuring that the organisation adheres to all legal requirements.
- Facilitating audits and workshop sessions for staff on risk management principles,
practices and corrective actions
- Prepare and deliver detailed reports for senior management, committees and the Board outlining risk exposure levels and proposed action plans.
This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. The Risk Officer will work closely with quality and safeguarding and executive leadership to align the organisation’s goals with effective risk management strategies.

Required experiences
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a risk management or compliance role
- Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or IRM Certification (desirable)
- ISO 31000 Risk Management training (desirable)
- Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies
- Previous experience working within the disability services sector or similar fields is highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience in preparing reports for senior management and stakeholders
- Familiarity with incident reporting systems and data analysis techniques
- A track record of successfully implementing risk management frameworks and policies
