The Role

We're looking for an experienced and technically capable Infrastructure Lead to join our Digital & Technology team on a permanent full-time basis.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, you'll lead the infrastructure system administration team in the delivery, support, configuration and continuous improvement of TasWater’s on-premises and cloud infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security and performance of critical technology platforms while driving standardisation, automation and operational excellence across the environment.

Leading a team of infrastructure professionals, you'll provide technical leadership across Azure, VMware, server, storage and backup platforms while supporting the ongoing evolution of TasWater’s technology landscape.

In this role, you will:

- Lead the day-to-day operation, support and maintenance of TasWater’s infrastructure platforms across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Drive service reliability, performance, resilience and operational maturity through effective infrastructure management practices.
- Lead the design,



configuration and optimisation of infrastructure platforms across Azure and on-premises environments.
- Develop and maintain standard platform patterns, configuration baselines and supporting documentation.
- Provide technical leadership across VMware, Azure, storage, backup and infrastructure services
- Drive automation, observability and continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
- Lead root cause analysis, problem resolution and continual service improvement activities.
- Coach, mentor and develop team members while fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors and technology partners.

What we're looking for

We're seeking a collaborative technology leader who combines strong infrastructure expertise with a passion for continuous improvement and service excellence.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

- Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure operations and engineering within a large, complex or regulated environment.
- Strong technical knowledge across Azure, VMware, servers, storage, backup and recovery platforms.
- Experience implementing modern infrastructure practices including automation, observability, configuration management and platform standardisation.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop technical teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a focus on service reliability and continuous improvement.

Highly regarded:





- Qualifications in Information Technology, Infrastructure Engineering or a related discipline.
- Azure, VMware, IT Service Management, automation or DevOps certifications.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, enterprise monitoring platforms or automation tooling.

The Details

This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of $135,072 - $150,080 (inclusive of superannuation).

Please note that this role may occasionally require after-hours work or participation in an on-call roster to support business and operational requirements.
