As the Senior Sustainability Officer, you will play a key role in leading Council’s environmental sustainability agenda by providing expert advice, developing innovative sustainability initiatives, and driving progress towards our Net Zero Carbon Emissions Target and Environmental Resilience Action Plan. Working across the organisation and with external stakeholders, you will champion practical solutions that reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency and embed sustainable practices into Council operations, projects and procurement.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced sustainability professional to influence meaningful environmental outcomes across Council and the wider community. You will engage with staff, residents, schools, businesses and government partners to build awareness of climate change and sustainability issues, deliver education programs, secure funding opportunities, and lead projects that support a more resilient and sustainable future. What We Offer

- Permanent, Full time Role - 70 hours per fortnight
- Salary from $101,723.29 - $117,859.55 per annum plus 12% superannuation
- 9-day fortnight subject to operational requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

- Tertiary qualifications in science or engineering, natural resource management, or a related discipline and/or extensive experience delivering sustainability, energy efficiency and carbon accounting projects/services
- An in-depth understanding of the principles of sustainable development and ability to translate that understanding into projects and policy development
- Demonstrated experience in the field of energy and/or water conservation and planning
- Proven experience and sound knowledge of stakeholder engagement tools and techniques
- Demonstrated experience in preparing reports and managing budgets, including grant applications
- Knowledge of climate change and sustainable design principles applicable for urban areas
- Experience managing large projects across teams or with various stakeholders, and policy development process
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and State and Local Government Policy in NSW, relating to environmental sustainability, climate change and sustainable infrastructure management
