About the Role We're hiring 1 Full-Time and 1 Casual position
As a Trainer & Assessor – Civil & Plant Operations, you will deliver and assess nationally recognised training for:
- RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations
- RII30920 Certificate II in Civil Construction
Training is delivered through TAG-operated RTOs:
- Mining Transport and Construction Services Pty Ltd (RTO ID 52053)
- Australian Business and Vocational Training (RTO ID 52592)
The role involves facilitating both classroom-based and practical training, supporting students throughout their learning journey, and ensuring training and assessment activities meet compliance, quality, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, high-quality training and assessment in accordance with training package requirements, RTO standards, and organisational policies.
- Facilitate both theory and practical learning activities that support student engagement and success.
- Deliver training in line with scheduled course timetables and training plans.
- Assess student competency using approved assessment tools, marking guides, and validation processes.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students to support progression and successful course completion.
- Identify and address individual learner needs, including Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) requirements.
- Monitor learner progress and implement strategies to improve student retention and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and student records within required timeframes.
- Build positive relationships with students and maintain regular communication throughout their training.
- Participate in moderation, validation, team meetings, and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain current industry knowledge and vocational competency relevant to Civil Construction and Plant Operations.
- Undertake ongoing professional development to meet trainer and assessor requirements and industry currency obligations.
- Maintain training records, professional development logs, and trainer matrices as required.
- Promote a strong safety culture and model industry best practice at all times.
Skills And Experiences
About You
You will bring substantial industry experience in Civil Construction and Plant Operations, along with a genuine passion for developing the next generation of operators. You are a confident communicator, committed to quality training outcomes, student success, and continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements:
- TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent) or willing to obtain
- Demonstrated 3years experience in Civil Construction, mining and/or Plant Operations.
- Relevant plant operating competencies and licences (tickets)
- Strong understanding of nationally recognised training and assessment requirements.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and quality outcomes.
Candidates must be willing to undergo a National Police Check and hold, or be willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check.
