Position Summary.
The Safety Manager – Factory Operations leads the day-to-day delivery of work health, safety and wellbeing across Parratech’s factory operations. Reporting to the Head of Safety & Wellbeing, this role provides hands-on operational safety leadership at the point of manufacture, ensuring pre-fabrication activities across Parratech’s production sites are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with legislative and client requirements. Sitting within the operational support arm of the Safety & Wellbeing function, the role directly leads a team of site-based Safety Advisors and a Safety Officer.
It translates Parratech’s safety strategy into consistent, practical safety practice on the factory floor, drives a proactive safety culture, and partners with production leaders to keep people safe while meeting operational targets.
Key Skills.
- Strong working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and WHS Regulation 2017, and their application in a manufacturing and pre-fabrication environment
- Proven operational safety leadership within factory, manufacturing or construction settings
- Ability to lead, coach and develop a geographically dispersed team of safety professionals
- Practical risk management skills – hazard identification, risk assessment, SWMS, and plant and machinery safety
- Incident investigation and root cause analysis (e.g. ICAM)
- Solid stakeholder engagement and influencing skills with production and operations leaders
- Clear written and verbal communication, including toolbox talks, procedures and reporting
- A data-driven mindset – able to interpret safety metrics and drive continuous improvement
- Competent user of WHS management systems and the Microsoft Office suite
Key Responsibilities.
- Provide operational WHS leadership across Parratech’s factory operations, ensuring consistent safety standards at all production sites
- Lead, mentor and manage the site-based Safety Advisors and Safety Officer, setting priorities and building team capability
- Partner with production and operations managers to embed safe systems of work into daily manufacturing activity
- Oversee hazard identification, risk assessments, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and safe operating procedures for plant, equipment and manufacturing processes
- Ensure timely reporting, investigation and close-out of incidents, injuries and near misses, identifying root causes and preventive actions
- Drive plant and machinery safety, isolation and lockout, manual handling and all other critical risk operations on the factory floor
- Monitor and report on operational safety performance, leading and lagging indicators, and corrective action progress
- Support emergency preparedness, evacuation planning and contractor safety management at factory sites
- Champion a positive, proactive safety and wellbeing culture and lead workforce engagement initiatives
- Support the Head of Safety & Wellbeing in delivering the broader safety strategy and continuous improvement programs

Qualifications.
- Tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline (Diploma) – essential
- Minimum 5 years’ WHS experience, including a leadership role within manufacturing, construction or industrial operations
- Demonstrated experience managing safety across multiple sites or teams
- ICAM or equivalent incident investigation certification – desirable
- First aid certification – desirable
- General Construction Induction (White Card) – desirable
- Current NSW driver’s licence (regular travel between sites required)
