We are seeking an experienced Safety Specialist (Process).
The Safety
Specialist will support risk management, event classification, auditing and coaching the site’s operational entities regarding risk assessment, control and event management. What You’ll Do
Engage in the development and implementation of risk, health and wellbeing promotional strategies including facilitating prevention/control activities and/or programs.
Work closely with our CHPP (Coal Handling and Processing Plant)
Monitor and report on all S&H; performance data, with a focus on automation of reports / dashboards for efficient communication of key information to the frontline.
Support operational areas on the appropriate use of measures, metrics, and analytical tools to enhance safety reporting, incident investigation and incident management.
Develop, monitor and distribute reports on key safety and health measures (e.g., safety interactions, corrective and preventative action, etc) from the site access system.
Support and monitor training in the use of the safety and health reporting system (WHC360)
Monitor and support site leaders in systems use, data reporting and event classification
Perform duties as a site administrator / key contact for the WHC360 system.
What You’ll Bring
Formal qualification in Safety (Diploma/ Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent)
At least 2 years’ experience in safety,
preferably in a mining setting, preferably with experience in CHPP or knowledge of this area.
Proficiency in data analysis, reporting and systems (Isometrix) with a focus on automation of reports/dashboards
ICAM/Investigation facilitation support
Sound knowledge and application of Safety & Health practices.

The Blackwater open cut coal mine is one of the largest producing metallurgical coal mines in Queensland. It is situated 73 kilometres south east of Emerald, on the traditional lands of the Gaangalu people.
Operating since 1967, the Blackwater mine has a strike length of 80 kilometres and is one of nine metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
The Blackwater mine produces predominantly low-ash, low-sulphur metallurgical coal products, as well as high energy thermal coal.
