Ryde City Council

At CSR, we're building a better future together. We are a team of 2,600 people across Australia and New Zealand, collaborating every single day toward a shared purpose – "Building solutions for a better future". As a leading Australian manufacturing business, we are at the forefront of developing innovative, sustainable, and high‑performing building products and systems.

At CSR, we put people first. We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, supportive, and inclusive working environment that enables everyone to feel valued, grow, and truly thrive. We are committed to providing equal prospect for everyone and welcoming people of all backgrounds, identities, experiences, abilities, and life stages.

The Opportunity

CSR is seeking a Business Improvement Manager to establish and lead deep, long‑term partnerships with tier‑1 residential builders (1,000+ homes annually). This unique, high‑impact role focuses on building strategic capability, not transactional sales. You will report directly to the EGM and work alongside forward‑thinking builders who share a continuous improvement mindset, aligning closely with CSR's values and value proposition to unlock mutual value across the entire building journey.

This Role Offers The Chance To

- Gain deep insight into how volume builders operate
- Translate learnings into scalable improvements across the broader business
- Build highly embedded partnerships across our full brand portfolio
- Design and implement a repeatable model for strategic partnerships

Key Responsibilities

Customer Discovery & Insight

- Map end‑to‑end builder processes – from initial customer engagement through lock‑up and handover
- Develop a deep understanding of volume builder operating models, challenges, and opportunities

Value Chain Integration

- Identify and activate opportunities to leverage CSR's full suite of capabilities across the builder value chain
- Bring together marketing, operational excellence, product development, supply chain, and logistics to create measurable value
- Apply continuous improvement principles to optimise joint processes

Strategic Blueprint Development

- Design and deliver a best‑in‑class partnership blueprint for volume builders
- Establish scalable, repeatable methodologies for identifying and developing strategic partnerships, and delivering value to builders

Cross‑Functional Leadership

- Define and embed ways of working across internal teams including sales, customer service, marketing, product development, supply chain, transport, and finance
- Act as the conduit between CSR and builder partners, aligning stakeholders to outcomes

About You

You are naturally curious and passionate about understanding how businesses operate. You enjoy working with customers to solve complex challenges and are motivated by creating meaningful improvements rather than maintaining the status quo.

You combine strong analytical capability with excellent relationship‑building skills and are comfortable influencing stakeholders across all levels of an organisation. Most importantly, you can move seamlessly between strategic thinking and hands‑on execution, bringing people together to drive sustainable change.

Ideally, You'll Bring

- Demonstrated experience in business improvement, continuous improvement, operational excellence, transformation, consulting, or a related discipline.

- Strong capability in process mapping, customer journey mapping and operating model design.
- Proven success applying Lean, Six Sigma, WCM, operational excellence, or similar methodologies to improve business performance and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Experience leading structured problem‑solving, root cause analysis, and business improvement initiatives.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across organisational boundaries.
- Experience working with customers, suppliers or external stakeholders to identify and deliver value‑creation opportunities.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify opportunities that deliver mutual value.
- Experience collaborating across multiple business functions to drive alignment and outcomes.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and workshop leadership skills.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical implementation.

Experience within manufacturing, construction, building materials, consulting, supply chain, operational excellence, or business transformation environments will be highly regarded.

What We Offer

- Supportive and collaborative culture that fosters innovation and inclusion. You will be surrounded by talented colleagues who are passionate about their work and committed to helping each other succeed.
- Care and wellbeing offer includes up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave, 52 weeks of superannuation payment, and access to an employee assistance program.
- Rewarding career with on‑the‑job learning, development, and upskilling opportunities within and across our brands.
