Job Title: SAP IS-U Billing Functional Consultant – Utilities

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP IS-U Billing Functional Consultant with strong domain expertise in utilities billing processes and hands-on configuration experience in SAP for Utilities (IS-U).

The consultant will be responsible for designing, configuring, testing, and supporting complex billing scenarios including rate configuration, invoicing, tariff management, and integration with finance and customer service modules in a regulated utilities environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. IS-U Billing Configuration & Design

- Configure and support SAP IS-U Billing module:
- Rate categories & rate types
- Rate steps & operands
- Billing schemas & variant programs
- Fact groups & rate determination
- RTP (Real-Time Pricing) scenarios (if applicable)
- Configure invoicing processes and print document parameters.
- Support complex tariff structures (residential, commercial, industrial).

2. Utilities Billing Process Expertise

- Handle end-to-end billing lifecycle:
- Periodic billing
- Final billing
- Budget billing
- Estimated billing
- Reversal & rebilling
- Support net metering, time-of-use (TOU), and demand billing (if applicable).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and pricing rules.

3. Integration & Cross-Functional Coordination

- Ensure integration with:
- Device Management
- Meter Reading
- Customer Service
- FI-CA (Contract Accounts Receivable & Payable)
- Work with technical teams on:
- Enhancements (BADIs / User Exits)
- IDocs & interfaces




- Billing-related RICEF objects
- Support integration with AMI / MDM systems.

4. Project & Implementation Responsibilities

- Participate in:
- Requirement gathering workshops
- Gap analysis & solution design
- Functional Specification Document (FSD) preparation
- SIT / UAT execution
- Cutover planning & go-live support
- Support data migration activities for rate and contract data.
- Provide hypercare and post-go-live stabilization support.

5. Production Support & Optimization

- Provide L2/L3 support for billing issues.
- Perform root cause analysis for:
- Billing inconsistencies
- Rate determination errors
- Invoice discrepancies
- Recommend process improvements for billing performance and automation.

Required Skills & Experience

Mandatory

- 6+ years of SAP IS-U experience with robust focus on Billing.
- Experience in at least 1–2 end-to-end utilities implementations.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Rate configuration
- Billing schema design
- Invoicing processes
- Integration with FI-CA
- Good understanding of utilities pricing and tariff models.

Preferred

- Experience in electricity/gas deregulated markets.
- Knowledge of TOU, net metering, and demand billing.
- Exposure to SAP S/4HANA Utilities.
- Basic ABAP debugging skills.

Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / IT / Commerce / Business.
- SAP IS-U certification (preferred).
