We are seeking a Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities to join the New special school in Central Logan commencing January 2027.

About the School:

New State Special School Logan Central is a new state primary special school opening in 2027, providing high-quality education. Co-located with Berrinba East State School, our unique setting provides opportunities for collaboration while establishing our own identity, culture and community. As a foundation school, every member of our team has the opportunity to help shape the way we work from day one.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Business Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the establishment and ongoing operations of our new school. Working collaboratively across our foundation team and co-located campus, you will help create a safe, welcoming and well-maintained setting that enables students and staff to thrive.



This is a unique opportunity to be involved in establishing a new school from the ground up.

Beyond maintaining our facilities and grounds, you will contribute to developing systems, supporting school operations and creating an environment where every student can achieve success.

Responsibilities Include:

- Maintain the presentation, cleanliness and functionality of school buildings, grounds and outdoor learning environments.
- Undertake routine maintenance, minor repairs and general upkeep of buildings, furniture and equipment (excluding work requiring a qualified tradesperson).
- Complete regular facilities inspections and identify, report and follow up maintenance, safety and compliance matters.
- Prepare classrooms, meeting spaces and school facilities for daily operations, meetings, professional development, community events and special activities.
- Receive, move, assemble and install furniture, equipment and resources to support the establishment and ongoing operation of the school.
- Assist with stock control, deliveries, mail distribution and the maintenance of asset and equipment registers.
- Support waste management, recycling and the overall presentation of the campus to ensure a welcoming environment for students, families and visitors.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely, following Workplace Health and Safety requirements and departmental procedures.
- Assist with school security, including locking and unlocking facilities, monitoring site presentation and responding to minor maintenance issues.




- Liaise with contractors and service providers while supporting facilities and maintenance projects across the school.
- Contribute to the development of productive facilities systems and processes as part of establishing a new State Special School.
- Work in collaboration with the School Officer at Berrinba East State School, sharing resources and supporting operational priorities where appropriate, while maintaining primary responsibility for the grounds and facilities maintenance of New State Special School Logan Central to ensure a safe, welcoming and well-maintained learning setting.

Progressional roles show a salary range spanning two classifications. Appointment will be made at the level appropriate to skill and fulfilment of required criteria.
