Science (Biology) Teacher – 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract

Commencing Term 1, 2027

We are seeking an experienced, passionate and innovative Science (Biology) Teacher to join our dynamic Secondary School team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, commencing Term 1, 2027. This position is an excellent opportunity for an educator who is committed to high-quality teaching and learning and who is passionate about inspiring students to develop a lifelong appreciation for science.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to deliver engaging and academically rigorous Science programs across Stage 4 and Stage 5, with specialist knowledge and experience teaching Stage 6 Biology. The ability to teach an additional Science subject will be viewed favourably.

About the Role

Reporting to the Curriculum Leader and Head of Studies, the successful applicant will:

- Deliver engaging, innovative and differentiated Science lessons that inspire student learning and achievement.
- Demonstrate specialist knowledge of the NSW NESA Science and Stage 6 Biology syllabus, Investigating Science.
- Develop and implement high-quality teaching and learning programs aligned with NESA requirements.
- Foster a positive, inclusive and respectful classroom environment that supports student wellbeing and academic success.
- Effectively utilise assessment data to inform planning, differentiation and continuous improvement.




- Integrate contemporary educational technologies into classroom practice.
- Monitor, assess and report on student progress in accordance with College expectations.
- Maintain accurate student records and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop curriculum resources and share best practice.
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the College, including pastoral care, co-curricular activities and College events.
- Undertake other duties as directed by the Head of College or their delegate.

Selection Criteria The successful applicant will demonstrate:

- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Education and Science.
- NESA Accreditation and eligibility to teach in Current South Wales.
- Demonstrated experience teaching Science, with specialist expertise in Stage 6 Biology and Investigating Science.
- A solid understanding of evidence-based teaching practice and curriculum differentiation.
- Proven ability to use student achievement data to improve learning outcomes.
- High expectations for student achievement and behaviour.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a professional learning community.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Professional presentation, integrity and a commitment to continuous professional learning.
- A willingness to actively support the ethos,



values and mission of St Spyridon College.

Essential Requirements Applicants must hold or be eligible to obtain:

- NESA Accreditation.
- NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Current National Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications (desirable).
- Full Australian working rights.

Employment Conditions This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position commencing Term 1, 2027.

Salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025 and will be determined based on the successful applicant's qualifications and years of recognised teaching service.
