Senior Architect – Infrastructure & Major Projects

About the Role

We’re seeking a highly capable Senior Architect to join a leading design practice working on some of Melbourne’s most complex and high-profile infrastructure projects.

This role offers the opportunity to work across major transport, rail, data centres and civic projects, contributing from design development through to construction delivery within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

You will play a key role in leading packages, coordinating consultants, and delivering high-quality documentation, while mentoring junior team members and engaging directly with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead design development and detailed documentation packages across major projects
- Provide construction phase services, including:
- Responding to RFIs
- Reviewing shop drawings
- Conducting site inspections and defect reporting
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (structure, MEP, contractors, consultants)
- Manage project deliverables, specifications, and program requirements
- Contribute to design problem-solving and technical resolution on complex projects
- Present design outcomes and updates to clients and key stakeholders
- Support and mentor junior architects and team members
- Assist in bid submissions, planning studies, and design optimisation where required

Project Exposure

You will work across a range of large-scale projects, including:





- Rail and transport infrastructure (Metro, Level Crossing Removal)
- Data centres and complex technical facilities
- Health and civic infrastructure projects
- Major government and alliance-led developments

About You

- 10–15 years’ experience in architecture
- Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure or complex projects
- Strong capability across design development, documentation, and construction phases
- Experience working within D&C; or alliance project environments
- Highly proficient in Revit and BIM workflows
- Strong understanding of buildability, coordination, and construction processes
- Confident communicator with experience engaging clients, consultants, and contractors
- Demonstrated ability to lead packages and mentor junior staff

Technical Skills

- Revit (essential) BIM documentation
- AutoCAD / Rhino / SketchUp (desirable)
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with tools such as Revizto, Aconex, Bluebeam highly regarded
