Geotechnique Pty Ltd is a Sydney-based geotechnical engineering consultancy providing practical, high-quality geotechnical advice across residential, commercial and infrastructure projects throughout Greater Sydney and NSW. Due to continued growth, we're seeking an Experienced to Senior Geotechnical Engineers to join our team. This role suits an engineer with strong technical judgement and solid Sydney experience who is ready to take ownership of projects, manage clients directly, and provide practical advice, while working closely with our Principal Engineers and the General Manager on the delivery and growth of the broader geotechnical team.
The Role:
You'll manage a portfolio of geotechnical projects with a good degree of independence, from scoping and investigation through to reporting, design and construction phase support. You'll be a key technical point of contact for clients and contractors, and a trusted second set of eyes for our Principal Engineers and General Manager across project delivery, client relationships and day-to-day team operations. Key Responsibilities:
Plan and oversee geotechnical investigations, including fieldwork scope, supervision and interpretation of subsurface conditions
Prepare geotechnical factual, interpretative and design reports to a high professional standard, with minimal oversight
Undertake geotechnical analysis and design across foundations, earthworks, excavations, retaining structures and pavements
Provide geotechnical support during construction, including site inspections, verification of ground conditions, and practical advice to contractors and clients
Manage project programme, budget and scope, and act as the primary client contact for your projects
Support the Principal Engineers and General Manager with project delivery oversight and client management across the wider team
Contribute to the mentoring and technical development of junior engineers About You:
Minimum five years' geotechnical engineering experience, including at least three years in geotechnical consulting in Sydney
Strong working knowledge of Sydney geology and ground conditions, and their practical implications for design and construction
Demonstrated ability to independently prepare geotechnical reports and provide sound technical advice to clients
Practical experience providing geotechnical advice and support during construction
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (essential); postgraduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering highly regarded
Sound understanding of relevant Australian Standards and local authority requirements
Proficiency with geotechnical analysis and design software (e.g. PLAXIS, Slide, Geostudio) and pavement design experience is an advantage
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or working towards is highly regarded
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients and contractors
Comfortable managing multiple projects concurrently and working to time and budget constraints
Current driver's license and willingness to undertake fieldwork and site visits
