Our client is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join their financial reporting team on a six-month contract with an immediate start, taking a full reporting cycle through to audit sign-off and member disclosure.
About our client
Our client is a large Australian financial services group that is growing rapidly. The financial reporting team is small enough that you will own deliverables outright and work directly with the senior leader accountable for them, and it sits close to investment operations, so reporting work is visible and connected to decisions that have impact.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting, you will support the group through its year-end cycle across multiple entities. Two pieces of work sit at the centre of the contract: general purpose financial statements prepared under Australian Accounting Standards, and the itemised expense disclosures required for the Annual Members' Meeting, which involves detailed invoice-level analysis and assessment of key management personnel related party relationships.
The contract runs for six months with an immediate start.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing and reviewing general purpose financial statements for group entities in line with Australian Accounting Standards and regulatory obligations
- Analysing FY26 expenditure and preparing the itemised Annual Members' Meeting disclosures,
including invoice review and related party analysis
- Researching technical accounting matters and drafting position papers that support the basis of preparation
- Working with the fund administrator, custodian, external auditors and tax advisers to keep the year-end timetable on track
What you'll bring
- CA or CPA qualification, a recognised overseas equivalent such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or equivalent tertiary finance qualifications
- Hands-on experience preparing or auditing general purpose financial statements.
- Confidence applying accounting standards to arrangements without an obvious precedent
- Can consider those on working holiday visas.
A first move out of Big 4 or mid-tier audit works well here. If you have run financial services or funds audits from the practice side, the technical ground will be familiar. Backgrounds in banking, insurance, funds management and corporate finance are equally welcome, as are accountants trained overseas who are recent to the Australian standards.
How to apply
If you are available now and this looks like the right piece of work, apply with your current CV. Applications are reviewed as they arrive and the role will close once the right person is appointed. For a confidential conversation about the contract before you apply, get in touch and we will talk you through the scope, the team and the timetable.
