Primary objective

Support the delivery of key governance functions, including coordination and management of the agency’s internal audit program and delegation’s framework, and provide high-level advice to support accountable, transparent and compliant decision‑making across the agency.

Context statement The position supports agency-wide governance, assurance and reporting functions. The role operates with a high degree of autonomy and provides specialist advice to executives and stakeholders on governance, audit and delegations matters. It also contributes to the continuous improvement of governance frameworks, capability and practices across the agency.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Support the coordination and delivery of the internal audit program, including planning, preparing reports, monitoring

progress and tracking implementation of recommendations.




- Manage the agency’s delegation framework, including instruments of delegation authorisations and ongoing review to ensure compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
- Provide high-level advice on governance, audit and delegations matters to executives, managers and staff to support effective decision-making.
- Contribute to the review and continuous improvement of governance policies, procedures and frameworks to ensure they remain current and effective.
- Undertake research, analysis and prepare high-level briefs, reports and recommendations on governance issues, risks and emerging trends.
- Support governance committees and contribute to governance projects and cross-agency initiatives as required.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated experience delivering governance, audit, risk or assurance functions, including applying legislative and

policy frameworks in practice.
- High-level analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to provide sound advice and exercise judgment on complex or sensitive issues.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare transparent, concise briefs, reports, correspondence and governance documentation.
- Proven ability to provide high-level advice, influence outcomes and build effective relationship with stakeholders across a range of levels, including senior management.

1. Experience developing, implementing or improving governance policies, frameworks, procedures, registers and reporting

processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, high volume workloads and tight timeframes while maintaining accuracy and high quality outcomes.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism and ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.

Desirable

1. Knowledge of public sector governance or compliance environments.
2. Relevant qualifications in governance, public administration, business, audit or a related discipline.
