About this Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join RJE Global. Reporting to the Payroll Operations & Governance Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll function for a complex, multi-entity, blue collar workforce, ensuring every pay run is accurate, on time and compliant with legislation, Awards, EAs and company policies.

As the senior member of the payroll team, you will be the go-to for complex payroll matters and escalations, lead reconciliations and audit support, mentor and check the work of other payroll staff, and drive improvements to payroll processes and systems as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

- Own and execute end-to-end pay runs, reconciling outputs to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Process and validate new hires, terminations, variations and employee data changes.
- Validate timesheets and leave applications against payroll policies, legislation, Awards and EAs.
- Interpret and apply Awards, Enterprise Agreements and legislation, including complex calculations, back pays and terminations.
- Act as the escalation point for complex payroll queries from employees, managers and external stakeholders.
- Monitor compliance with legislative obligations including superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, FBT, workers compensation and leave entitlements.




- Prepare and review payroll reports and reconciliations (superannuation, PAYG, leave balances) and support compliance reporting.
- Lead the payroll input to internal and external audits, providing data, reconciliations and documentation.
- Escalate potential breaches of compliance and governance to the Payroll Operations & Governance Manager.
- Maintain accurate system configuration and support testing during system upgrades and process changes.
- Identify and implement process improvement and automation opportunities across the payroll function.
- Support, coach and check the work of payroll team members, and maintain payroll procedures and documentation.

Experience

- 5+ years' payroll processing experience, including exposure to complex, large or multi-entity blue collar environments.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Awards, EAs, superannuation, payroll tax, PAYG and FBT.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting Awards and Enterprise Agreements and resolving complex payroll matters.
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems (e.g. Employment Hero) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience supporting audits, reconciliations and compliance reporting.
- Demonstrated experience with governance and compliance frameworks.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Solid communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- A proactive, hands-on attitude and a continuous improvement mindset.
