About the Role

You will be part of a unique opportunity as we have embarked on an exciting project to standardise our HR and payroll processes and implement a single, integrated HRIS and payroll platform across Australia and New Zealand.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to lead our end-to-end payroll function, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer in our Thomastown office. This is a hands-on leadership role in a high-volume, multi-site, multi-Award environment, delivering an accurate, compliant and timely payroll service across Australia and New Zealand.

Working closely with People & Culture and Finance, you'll own our day-to-day pay practices and governance, ensuring alignment with business objectives, legal obligations and a high-performance service culture. This role suits an experienced payroll leader with a strong working knowledge of Australian employment, taxation and superannuation legislation, and ideally some exposure to New Zealand payroll requirements.

You'll be the steady hand across BAU payroll operations — the team may draw on your input from time to time as systems evolve, but this role is first and foremost about owning payroll delivery, accuracy and compliance, not project delivery.

What You'll Do

- Manage end-to-end payroll processing across ANZ, including wages, salaries, bonuses,



commissions and allowances
- Ensure compliance with tax legislation, superannuation, payroll tax, Awards and employment law, working closely with P&C; on interpretation
- Implement segregation of duties, approval workflows, reconciliations and exception reporting to manage payroll risk
- Reconcile payroll to the general ledger, prepare monthly journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Provide payroll analytics, headcount reports and labour cost insights to Finance, P&C; and the Senior Leadership Team
- Partner with P&C;, Finance, People Leaders and external providers (superannuation funds, novated leasing, insurance) to deliver a seamless payroll service
- Lead and develop the payroll function, setting explicit objectives, service SLAs and KPIs

What You'll Bring

- A strong business partnering mindset, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality internal customer service to People & Culture, Finance and the broader business
- A number of years' end-to-end payroll leadership experience in a hands-on, high-volume environment
- Deep knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and practices (Fair Work, ATO, STP, Superannuation Guarantee, Payroll Tax, LSL); New Zealand payroll experience is an advantage
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise payroll and time & attendance systems
- Strong reconciliation skills (GL, month end), third-party payments and intercompany journals
- Proficiency in payroll reporting and analytics
- High attention to detail, confidentiality and integrity, with sound judgement and a risk mindset
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting, Human Resources or a related discipline (desirable)
