In this role, you'll: Join Sydney Trains’ newly stood up Incident Management & Service Recovery team and this role will see you act as the central point of coordination for all rail-related operational communications, ensuring messages are accurate, consistent, and tailored to the appropriate channels and audiences.

You will manage the dissemination of timely and relevant information during unplanned incidents and planned events across the rail network, including suburban, intercity, regional, metro and freight services. This highly collaborative role works closely with stakeholders across Sydney Trains, the Transport cluster and Sydney Metro to coordinate communications and connect with the right people for successful delivery. It also leads and coordinates all operational communications during crises, ensuring staff, passengers, and the public have the right information at the right time.

About You

You have demonstrated experience in an operational and hands on communications environment with a passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience. You are a strategic thinker but equally able to convert complex operational information during major incidents and major events into simple information for the public, key stakeholders and executive briefings. Media engagement and executive communications plays a large role in this newly created role so your highly developed oral communication skills and superior interpersonal skills will be key.





You will have demonstrated ability to identify issues with a high risk or potential public exposure and provide a managed response. This is a challenging, high pressured yet rewarding role where you will be required to think on your feet and make decisions within a live 24/7 operations centre environment. This is an on-site role at our Rail Operation Centre in Alexandria where you will be required to work rostered shifts (AM/PM shifts).

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as communications and / or relevant industry experience is required and knowledge and understanding of complex rail/transport network operations is essential. There is also a need to be willing to work rostered shift hours to cover operational requirements.
