Data Engineer - NV1 Clearance Required

Location: Melbourne or Canberra
Work Type: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days WFH)
Contract: Initial contract until 30 June 2027, with strong extension potential
Security Clearance: NV1 Clearance is mandatory

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a high-profile technology program delivering up-to-date data solutions in a collaborative Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions
- Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes for data ingestion, transformation, and storage
- Build batch and near real-time data processing solutions
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver reliable data platforms
- Ensure data quality, performance, security, and governance across data environments
- Support cloud-based data platforms, data lakes, and data warehouses
- Troubleshoot data pipeline issues and optimise performance
- Contribute to automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

- 5+ years' experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused engineering role




- Strong experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and data orchestration workflows
- Advanced SQL skills with experience across relational and NoSQL databases
- Hands‑on experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, or equivalent
- Experience working with structured and semi-structured datasets
- Good understanding of data modelling and performance optimisation
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data engineering
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
