The Medical Imaging
Department at Alice Springs Hospital operates 24-hours and provides emergency, intra-operative and general x-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, mammography and fluoroscopy. As a Senior Sonographer, your primary objective is to provide high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services to patients of Alice Springs Hospital, the Central Area Services Network, Community Health Centres and private practitioners as requested. Working with a team of medical professionals and modern equipment, you will perform advanced ultrasound examinations; identify complex or unusual pathology, variants or artefacts, to ensure the most appropriate high-quality imaging is performed.
In co-operation with the Chief Sonographer, you will provide leadership, supervision and mentorship to junior sonographers, ensuring adherence to standard work practices. In addition, you will contribute to clinical activity, perform patient registrations and participate in the team’s shift and on-call rosters. To be successful you require a Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound or Diploma of Medical Ultrasonography, or a recognised Medical Ultrasound qualification, which confers eligibility with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Register (ASAR).
Demonstrated experience in various fields of sonography with the ability to perform general, obstetrics/gynaecology, complex vascular and musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations. Sound knowledge and understanding of all facets of Sonography / Medical Imaging is essential.
