About the role

As a Senior Technician, Wardrobe, you will provide specialist technical wardrobe support for performances, rehearsals and events across Arts Centre Melbourne's venues. Working closely with presenters, artists and production teams, you will prepare, maintain and repair costumes, oversee wardrobe operations during live performances and provide technical guidance to colleagues and stakeholders. This hands-on role requires exceptional wardrobe expertise, strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality productions in a fast-paced live performance setting.

Skills and requirements

- Relevant qualification or equivalent wardrobe experience
- Extensive backstage wardrobe experience
- Advanced costume maintenance and repair skills
- Experience with alterations and garment construction
- Knowledge of theatre wardrobe equipment and systems
- Experience dressing performers during live productions
- Strong understanding of theatre etiquette and backstage practices
- Experience preparing wardrobe plots and documentation
- Ability to troubleshoot wardrobe issues during performances
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience mentoring and training wardrobe technicians
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety practices
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight production deadlines
- Robust organisational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Current Working With Children Check
- Valid working rights in Australia
- Satisfactory National Police Check required

About the Team The Production department sits within the Performing Arts pillar and comprises of a team that delivers production services for ACM across Staging, Lighting, Audio, Broadcast, Wardrobe, Stage Management, and Training to enable the secure and efficient delivery of events across all our venues and spaces.
